Apichai Sunchindah

Mr Apichai Sunchindah is currently an independent Development Specialist and former staff of the ASEAN Secretariat and Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation.

Mr Sunchindah has been a development specialist spanning four decades. He started his career as a researcher on inter-disciplinary water and natural resources management projects at the Asian Institute of Technology near Bangkok, Thailand. This subsequently led to his work with several development cooperation agencies of Australia, the United States, Switzerland and most recently Germany. He has also worked with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat and the ASEAN Foundation, both based in Jakarta, Indonesia as well as the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Bangkok, Thailand. Mr Sunchindah has been a keen and continuous observer of developments in the Southeast Asia region and the Mekong sub-region in particular with special focus in recent years on capacity building and institutional strengthening activities of various organizations/entities. He has been a free-lance consultant since 2012.
