Benjamin Hu

Benjamin was a Research Officer under the Regional Social and Cultural Studies programme at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute. He graduated with a M.A. Science in Applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from National University of Singapore under the K.S Sandhu Scholarship. He is involved in developing capabilities to conduct social media analysis and visualisation. This also encompasses the acquisition, cleansing and analysis of large social media datasets for research and publications through programming scripts and data/social network visualisation software, in close collaboration with researchers. He published a new type of online report showcasing interactive data visualizations, on the impact of social media on the Coronavirus Infodemic in Southeast Asia.

Previously, he has created map visualizations for research and publications which involved the sourcing, cleaning and geoprocessing of spatial datasets. These maps were published in research outputs including an edited volume on Malaysia’s 2018 General Elections.
